 RURAL LEADERS SUMMIT

Together SC is pleased to announce a new learning opportunity designed especially for leaders of rural nonprofits.

We encourage you to attend these informative and engaging sessions presented by:

Saturday, October 12, 2019  9AM-1PM

We can all do a better job of identifying and solving the challenges associated with managing and governing rural nonprofits, faith-based, and community-based organizations.  Too often, capacity building strategies and approaches are developed with a template that doesn’t seem to fit the needs, concerns, interests, and opportunities that are unique to working in rural settings.

This Summit will address those needs, concerns, interests, and opportunities.  The materials have been developed and refined through a rural lens. The facilitated conversation will be participant-driven to ensure it meets the needs of those in attendance.   This session will give participants an opportunity to share, learn, and grow with their peers in a strengths-based, solution-oriented space.

WHAT IS IT?:  A training program designed to address the needs specific to nonprofit organizations located in rural towns and/or that serve a rural population.  These nonprofits should have an annual operating budget of less than $100,000 and no more than two full-time employees*.
*If your organization does not meet the annual budget and/or full-time employee requirements but you still wish to attend, please reach out to Shayne Kinloch to discuss options.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?: Executive Directors, Staff, Board Members, and Volunteers (18+) of small, volunteer-led, and rural-located nonprofit organizations are encouraged to attend this program together.

WHEN IS IT?:  Saturday, October 12, 2019  9AM - 1PM; Registration opens at 8:30 AM

During our time we will:

  1. Explore the impact that state/national nonprofit trends and best-practices can have on rural organizational development.

  2. Challenge assumptions associated with leading and governing rural organizations.

  3. Discuss strategies of defining and developing programs and services in a rural community.

  4. Consider funding opportunities and challenges faced by rural organizations.

  5. Teams will walk away with a list of actionable next steps their organizations need to take in order to achieve optimal functionality and increase their impact.

  6. Leaders will leave the Summit feeling equipped to usher their organizations into a greater future.

Meet our 2019 Rural Leaders Summit Facilitator:

As the founder of The Weathers Group, Charles Weathers captivates audiences with contagious energy, insight, and humor. A recognized authority on leadership and organizational effectiveness, he has become known for his strategic intellect and skillful facilitation style.

The majority of workplace challenges stem from a root cause of "differences." Differences in communication   skills, managements styles, values, priorities, background, and experience. Charles is a keynote speaker   who uses his time with his audience to turn those differences or "issues" into assets.

Charles believes leveraging differences is the best possible path forward for teams and leaders to reach peak performance, because when folks get along, they can function more efficiently, increase productivity, and communicate with clarity. This isn't your typical diversity and inclusion talk, but a new approach to starting conversations with the end goal of creating strong teams, leaders, and businesses.

When he's not on stage, Charles works as a consultant and coach with his team at The Weathers Group. The Weathers Group (TWG) is a management consulting firm that works with clients to develop leaders and strengthen organizational capacity. Since 2003, the firm has designed training curriculum, provided technical assistance and developed plans for clients of all sizes. The firm has emerged as one of the most innovative and effective consulting firms in the Southeastern region, providing a framework for client success based on proven principles.
